13 new hotels in the UK to add to your bucket list (2024)

Some of the best places to stay in the world are hotels in the UK – so at Condé Nast Traveller, we're always excited about new arrivals to the scene. Whether they're city-slicking London hotels or box-fresh beachfront hotels across the UK, these are the hotel openings we're most excited about booking into – as well as the new hotels we've stayed in, and loved, this year.

How we choose the best new hotels in the UK

Every hotel on this list has been selected independently by our editors and written by a Condé Nast Traveller journalist. The hotels that have already opened have been reviewed by an editor who has stayed at that property. When choosing hotels, our editors consider both luxury properties and boutique and lesser-known boltholes that offer an authentic and insider experience of a destination. We’re always looking for beautiful design, a great location and warm service – as well as serious sustainability credentials. The hotels that have yet to open are from hotel groups that we know and love.

Hotels opening in 2023

Raffles London at The OWOGrain London Ltd.

Raffles at the OWO, London

Is this London’s most anticipated hotel of 2023? Potentially. Hotel group Raffles (Singapore, Dubai) are taking over the Old War Office in Whitehall, in the first time the building, which stopped being used by the Ministry of Defence in the 1960s, will open to the public. 11 restaurants and bars will be set across the hotel. Check in for a serious James Bond moment – the OWO have starred in all of Daniel Craig’s recent films.

Slieve Donard Hotel, Northern Ireland

This is the first Northern Irish property from Marine & Lawn – a young hotel group making a name for itself revamping golf hotels in Scotland. The 180-room hotel has been about for 125 years, but is set to reopen with a new costume. Expect widescreen views of mountains of Mourne and County Down coastline and a handful of restaurants celebrating the best of local produce.

Broadwick Soho, London

This West End spot is set to open in November – on the corner of two of Soho's buzziest thoroughfares, Broadwick Street and Berwick Street. The townhouse vibes were overseen by designer Martin Brudnizki (also behind members club Annabel's), so think opulent interiors and quirky details. A restaurant, Dear Jackie, will be complimented by drinking den Bar Jackie, and there will be a rooftop bar, too – a rarity in this corner of Soho.

100 Princes Street

100 Princes Street, Edinburgh

There are a few hotels on the list that have been due to open for some years now – and 100 Princes Street is one of them. A handsome townhouse built for Scottish politician Sir John Clark of Penicuik, 100 Princes Street was turned into a hotel in the 19th century, as the Scottish capital took off as a destination for Victorian travellers. Now, it's been redesigned by Red Carnation Hotels (also behind Ireland’s Ashford Castle), with interiors inspired by designer Alexander McQueen.

Treehouse Hotel Manchester

There are quite the influx of Manchester hotels arriving soon – including a northern outpost of Soho House, and it's sister motel brand Mollie's. Treehouse Hotel, however, is the one we're most excited about. It's a sister spot to Treehouse Hotel London, which perches just opposite the BBC building, and will have many of the same influences including tons of greenery and a buzzing rooftop restaurant.

Bedroom at No42 by GuestHouse, MargateToby Mitchell

No. 42 by GuestHouse, Margate

Margate’s only truly seafront hotel, this Victorian spot has been given island vibes by the GuestHouse group, who launched in 2021 and have quickly opened a cluster of townhouse boutiques in Bath, York, and Brighton. 21 rooms recall the seaside location – think shell lamps, and curvy furniture. There's a restaurant, Pearly Cow, and a beachfront café, plus a little spa – all in one of England's most thriving seaside towns.

Bedroom at Estelle Manor, OxfordshireMark Anthony Fox

Estelle Manor Oxfordshire

This private-members country club is a fun take on a classic; overseen by the Ennismore Group (who own the city-focussed Hoxton hotels). There are 108 rooms and suites across the estate, including in the manor and its outbuildings. There are sitting rooms, a co-working space, a spa, a sun-soaked terrace and a pool to occupy your days; plus a few different restaurants. The Manor is also, rather wonderfully, set in a sprawling 60-acre estate – this is a true rural escape.

1 Hotel Mayfair, LondonMilo Brown

1 Hotel Mayfair, London

A nine-storey sustainable hotel might not be the first thing you expect in Mayfair, but this new arrival – covered in greenery inside and out – has slotted seamlessly in. It's the first London property from the 1 Hotel Group, who have eco-focussed hangouts from San Francisco to Nashville. A tranquil aesthetic extends from the lobby to the 181 bedrooms, all beachy tones and milky hues. There's a restaurant, Dovetale, from Tom Sellers, the man behind twoMichelin-starredRestaurant Story, and a bar, Dover Yard, which is buzzing with guests and neighbourhood locals every day of the week. And of course, there's the sustainability credentials – “the team has carefully considered the abundance of greenery, sustainable building materials and practices and organic produce,” Olivia Morelli wrote in her exclusive first-in review.
