Note: There are 8 total Academic Days scheduled throughout the year which are a required part of the residency experience. You are allowed to miss one.

Who is the site coordinator?

An activity to be completed individually by each resident after Academic Day to identify what they have learned from the experiences of the day. This will be shared with preceptors.

What is an Academic Day reflection?

Note: Completed for each AD that you attend with a purpose to reflect on your learning and share that learning with your preceptors.

The number of months that a resident is required to complete patient care tracking in Qualtrics.

What is one?

Note: This patient care tracking is to capture the volume and type of patient care that residents within the program are providing. You will be asked to track the type of visit, primary & secondary medical conditions and special population considerations.

The date in which residents must take (or re-take) licensure examinations for licensure in MN.

What is September 30th?

Note: Residents are required by ASHP to be licensed pharmacists for a minimum of 8 months of the residency year, this exam deadline ensures that all residents meet this requirement.

The time spent on all clinical and academic activities related to the residency program (i.e. patient care (both inpatient and outpatient), administrative duties relative to patient care, the provision for transfer of patient care, time spent in-house during call activities, and scheduled activities, such as conferences).

What are duty hours?

Note: Duty hours must be tracked in NewInnovations and attested in PharmAcademic every month. Any additional staffing or moonlighting must also be included in duty hours.

Required presentations that each resident completes during Academic Day.

What are Grand Rounds and Case presentations?

Note: Grand Rounds are 45 minutes and include an in depth review of a clinical topic. Case presentations are 30 minutes and more discussion focused. Details are in the Resident Manual, examples will be shared in August. Sign ups will be available in Canvas following Orientation.

The number of journal clubs that a resident must lead by the end of the year.

What is two (2)?

Note: Residents must participate in 6 total journal clubs, leading at least 2 of the 6.

An ongoing, continuously updated document outlining a resident’s quarterly goals, self-evaluation and self-reflection and preceptor evaluation of strengths and opportunities of improvement toward competency areas.

What is a development plan?

Note: Development plans need to be completed each quarter and sent to Amy to be uploaded to PharmAcademic. Due dates are outlined in the resident manual.

An expectation for geographically aligned, non-Twin Cities based residents to be reimbursed for travel expenses for an Academic Day.

What is carpooling?

Note: Residents will use personal vehicles and the driver will be reimbursed for mileage at the current rate (parking is not included). Reimbursem*nt needs to be requested within 60 days of travel. Details can be found in the resident manual and on Canvas under Academic Day Travel.

An activity, completed by all residents during Q3, with a purpose of learning from other institutional patient care communication and documentation practices and promoting best practices.

What is peer review?

Note: You may complete additional peer review activities within your specific sites, however all residents will participate in a peer review process with our program to allow exposure to documentation at different organizations.

The level of EPAs in which objectives must be marked in order to be achieved for residency.

What is a Level 4 or 5?

Note: EPA level definitions are listed in the Resident Manual.

The maximum number of hours a resident is allowed to moonlight per week, averaged over a one month period.

What is 24 hours?

Note: Moonlighting must be approved by your site coordinator. Moonlighting hours need to be included in duty hour tracking.
